Microsoft Habu gaming mouse review

The Microsoft Habu gaming mouse is just as impressive as its specs suggest. It's highly accurate and responsive, intelligently engineered, attractively styled, and more than appropriate for gaming. If I gave out those silly editorial product awards, this mouse would get one.

At first I thought this review might be some sort of parody bit, but I see it's for real. Perhaps there needs to be some sort of "Air Hockey" style mouse pad where compressed air is continually expelled from tiny holes in the mouse pad surface.

It really is a great mouse. No matter how badly Microsoft software stinks, it still makes the best keyboards and mice in the industry.

Or like in this case, someone else makes it for them.

I'm a fan of Logitech are they made by Microsoft?

Logitech is an entirely different company and yes, they do make very good mice. The Logitech keyboards are pretty good -- definitely the best "straight" keyboards out there, but if you like ergonomic keyboards, I have not found anything that even competes with Microsoft.

Logitech used to have an ergonomic design (in fact I still have it), but it was discontinued years ago.

My favorite keyboard right now is the Apple Pro Keyboard. I've always liked Apple's keyboards.

I've got a couple of different mice - basically some Logitech optical three-button scroll-wheel mice, and some Razer 7-button gaming mice. They're both really good.

plan

hi all!

i'm planning to buy a new mouse, but i haven't decided yet. now i use a logitech click! optical but i think this is not the best for me, maybe because it is for finger-use and not palm-use. i think a palm-used mouse would be better for me. I tried several and i found that habu is the most convenient but i have a quite serious problem with it: i have to push the scrolling wheel all the time because of my work, and pushing the scrolling wheel is everything but not convenient, it is a too hard feeling. my fingers are going to exhaust and hurt...

so my question is: am i able to change the pushing of the scrolling wheel to the pushing of any other button? it would be a help for me to decide to buy this mouse and finally i would be satisfied.

thanks in advance

Below the Habu's scroll wheel are two round buttons; you can set these to pageup and pagedown. Some modern Logitech mice have similar scroll buttons as well.

The scroll wheel will loosen with use -- probably about a week's worth of regular use will break it in. I don't find it any more restrictive than most mice wheels (and I've reviewed quite a few of them), but they are ALL stiff for a week or so.

I recently reviewed a mouse (not published yet) from A4Tech, model name NB99. It is wireless and batteryless, comes with an egronomic mousepad, and has both a top and a side scroll wheel so you can scroll with your thumb if you prefer.

Lastly, some Logitech keyboards have a scroll wheel on the left side. This may be a benefit to you.
