Excellent review, Jem, but I must say again, my game has not crashed once in the 2 months I have been playing it. It's unfortunate this has happened to you and I wonder what the deal is....
I have found the online component to be most excellent, I play it every day. I have seen a handful of cheaters (aimbots mostly) but that's life in the online gaming big city. I either ignore it or just find a new server. I also have found that there are a suprisingly low number of Onslaught servers given the games popularity. I don't play anyother game type as yet...

Most of the crashes are in the Linux edition, but on the UT2004 support boards I see instability complaints on both GNU/Linux and Windows.

There's a patch in the works to correct it... I've already installed a beta edition of the patch and it helped somewhat. There seems to be a memory leak somewhere in the graphics renderer that does "ragdoll" effects when a player is hit by a strong force. This only usually happens in Onslaught, so that's where most of the crashes are.

I usually play everyday, Assault exclusively now because of the less crashes... but not lately because I'm working on so many reviews and my hard drives are a little messed up. I've got to test three GNU/Linux distros and write four articles on them.
