Sled 10

Hi JEm,
I m new to SLED 10 & followed the instruction as given in the http://www.thejemreport.com/mambo/content/view/270/1/, when i try to Add the installation source, i get the error
" Unable to create installation Source from URL 'http://mirrors.kernel.org/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source/', Details: Cannot create the Installation source. Try Agian?"
I m connected to the net through a proxy Server & also, i tries to Add the installation source through FTp or some other source I get the same message.

Please help me on this.

Regards,
Anup

Have you tried a different installation source mirror? I tested everything in the article and unless I'm mistyping something, it all works perfectly for me.

Hi,
I have tried many installation source mirror, but get the same error message. Do you think connecting through a proxy is giving this error(Cannot create the Installation source)?

It's possible, yes. Can you work around the proxy just to test it?

Do you have the proxy server settings in the Proxy section of the Network Services part of YaST?

No, I had not done the proxy server settings in the Proxy section of the Network Services part of YaST. I have done that. I have followed the procedure as given in the http://www.thejemreport.com/mambo/content/view/270/1/ for adding installation sources & I could add that. Thanks a Lot for the help. I have been trying this for quite some time.

I was trying to install Mplayer on this, but could not find it. Plz. let me know any other source, where I can find Mplayer? Can i do this by adding instllation source as packman.unixheads.com/suse/10.1

Thanks A lot Once Agian for your Help.

Regards,
Anup

I'm not sure what you're saying here. Did adding the proxy settings work?

Yes, it is working fine. I added the installation source from /mirrors.kernel.org/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source.

I was trying to install Mplayer package from this , but could not find in the source mirrors.kernel.org. Can I use packman.unixheads.com/suse/10.1 source for installing Mplayer Package.

Oh -- yes, the Packman mirror will have MPlayer and the MPlayer plugin for Firefox as well.
